Zachary James Hecker
Zachary James “Zach” Hecker, 33, Leesburg, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at his home. He was born on Nov. 29, 1984, in Fort Wayne to Barry Franklin Hecker and Cheryl Lynn Threewits.
He was a lifetime Leesburg and North Webster area resident, graduated in 2003 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse, and received his degree in Radiation Technology from Ivy Tech Community College in Marion. He was employed at Parkview Hospital in Warsaw and formerly at Parkview Wabash for 5 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved visiting Red River Gorge on his hiking expeditions. He spent summers skiing and boating with friends and family. He loved playing with his nephews, Colin and Connor, and taking them for boat rides. He never met a stranger and was kind, loving and would help anyone. He loved the Cubs and celebrated the World Series Championship with his father. He spent countless hours working on home improvement projects together with his mother.
He is survived by his parents; a brother, Josh (Ashley) Hecker, New Palestine; two nephews: Colin and Conner Hecker; maternal grandparents: Ralph and Phyllis Threewits, Union City; paternal grandmother, Doris Bolen, Freeport, Ill.; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leon Hecker; and nephew, Cooper Hecker.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Joe Clark officiating.
