Madelyn Strombeck
Madelyn Strombeck, 103, passed away Jan. 31, 2018, in Rochester Hills, Mich.
Mrs. Strombeck was born on September 2, 1914 to Carl and Virginia Bockman in North Webster. She was the eldest of two, with her brother Carl joining the family a few years later.
She met the love of her life Carl B. Strombeck while they were in grade school together. They graduated from North Webster High School in 1932 and wed June 6, 1933. One year later, in 1934, they welcomed their first addition to the family, Rick. After Rick was born, the Strombeck’s moved their young family to the metro Detroit area, after he took a position at the Ford plant. In 1935, they added their second child to the family, Shirley. In 1942, they completed their family with the addition of Carl J.
They committed their lives to the Lord from an early age. With every church they belonged to, both were very committed to serving the Lord in many aspects. From playing musical instruments, to singing in the choir, to belonging to prayer groups and assisting in hospital and nursing home visitations. One thing they enjoyed the most and many will remember the Strombecks for was being not only spiritual parents to many, but also as spiritual mentors.
Mrs. Strombeck was a very hospitable person. She was a homemaker and took pride in how she kept her home. Because of this, she loved to have people gather in her home during holiday parties, birthdays, or even just to be kind and social.
She is the cherished wife of the late Carl; the loving mother to Rick (Bette), Shirley Hardwick, and Carl J.; the beloved grandmother to six grandchildren; the dear great-grandmother to 11 great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 3, through the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, Utica, Mich. Burial will take place at North Webster Cemetery.
