Warsaw Golf: Yeager Taking Talent To Taylor
WARSAW -Warsaw senior golfer Sam Yeager will complete his final holes of his high school career this spring, and afterwards the Tiger standout announced with his signing of a letter of intent that he will make his next big drive to Taylor University.
Yeager was an instant impact for the Tiger golf program out of the gates, earning Most Valuable Freshman after his first season, and he followed that up by earning Most Valuable Player the next two years. After earning All Northern Lakes Conference Honorable Mention status as a sophomore, he was named on the All-NLC first team last year. Yeager’s efforts helped the Tigers and coach Rich Haddad claim the sectional title last year as well, and he finished third place overall at the regional and qualified for the state finals.
Yeager has not only represented WCHS through his athletic achievements, he demonstrates a sincere care for those in need and exemplifies the Warsaw Schools’ mission of enriching the lives of others. A Jefferson Elementary School assistant basketball coach, Yeager led a project through Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy called Hoosiers Helping Hundreds, and he also assisted with Race for Trace.
Additionally, the senior standout has demonstrated mastery of both indoor and outdoor courses – earning a stellar 12.61 Grade-Point-Average and a Top-12 ranking at the end of each of his first three school years.
Intending to major in Business Management, Yeager will compete for Taylor University and coach Cam Andry. The Trojans’ golf squad ended the 2017 season ranked No. 15 in the final NAIA Coaches’ Poll. Taylor is a member of the NAIA and the Crossroads League
