UPDATE: Cause Of Syracuse Fire Unknown, Home Declared Total Loss
SYRACUSE — The Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded to a report of a house fire at approximately 1:50 p.m. today, Jan. 30, in the area of 10301 North Grand Boulevard, Syracuse.
Upon the arrival of the first fire department personnel, flames were visible. The house is located on an island with a walk bridge to the island. The physical address of the house involved was 10322 North Grand Boulevard.
Fire hose was laid across the bridge onto the island in order to fight the fire. It was determined that there were no occupants inside of the structure shortly after the fire department arrived.
The fire was brought under control at 2:31 p.m. The house and its contents were a total loss with an estimated $90,000 in damages. The structure is owned by KRE Assets LLC, 1 Industrial Drive, Cromwell.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters during firefighting operations. Fire crews remained at the scene until 6:08 p.m.
The Turkey Creek Fire Territory was assisted at the scene by the North Webster Fire Department, the Benton Township Fire Department, the Ligonier Fire Department, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, the Kosciusko County Squad 70 Fire Investigation Team and the American Red Cross. The Milford Fire Department was placed on standby.
The cause and origin of the fire is undetermined at this time and remains under investigation.
