Wawasee Basketball: Warriors Routed By Lakers
SYRACUSE – Lakeland made a statement of sorts in a matchup of potential sectional opponents Saturday night at Wawasee.
Lakeland shot 50 percent from three-point range and had three players in double digits in scoring in a 54-30 boys basketball win.
Cameron Bontrager led the Lakers with 18 points, Brayden Bontrager added 14 points and Cole Harp finished with 12 points. The three combined for 11 rebounds, nine assists, five steals and six three-pointers made, Lakeland going 7-14 overall on the night from deep.
Wawasee, after a tough shooting night in an overtime loss Friday to Concord, once again had a hard time making baskets. The Warriors were just 12-35 from the floor on the night (34 percent) and didn’t have a double-digit scorer, the closest being Jairus Boyer with nine points. Boyer also led the Warriors with six rebounds.
The Wawasee JV won its game with Lakeland 43-20, stats were not provided from the matchup.
Wawasee (4-12) will look to regroup Thursday night at Northridge. Lakeland (11-6) will play Thursday at Churubusco.
