Myrna Jester Conant
Myrna Jester Conant, 90, passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2018 at Lake City Place, Warsaw. Her first grandchild, Andrew Tynan was by her side, as well as her thoughtful and gentle caregivers.
Conant was born Sept. 8, 1927 to Lela (Cox) and Ernest (Bud) Jester in Gila, Illinois. She was a graduate of Newman High School. During World War II, she became a registered nurse through the U.S. Nurse Cadet program at Lakeview Hospital in Danville, Illinois.
In 1948, she married John Conant, who preceded her in death in 2000. They were the parents of four children Nancy (Joe) Tynan, Mary Jo (Chip) McCarthy, Patricia Conant, and Tom Conant. Their grandchildren are Andrew (Suzanne) Tynan, Sam (Bridget) Tynan, Jessica (deceased, Jeff) Schwindenhammer, Parker (Kim) McCarthy, Anne Marie (Brian) Timm, Tyler Conant. Myrna and John were great-grandparents to Luke, Maggie and Grace Tynan, Max Tynan and Lenox McCarthy
In her professional career, Conant was a member of the Riverview Hospital Board of Directors, a cardiac surgical nurse, a visiting nurse and nursing home administrator. She also worked for the Indiana Blood Bank.
Conant was a vital and beloved member of the extensive Jester family. She was also an energetic and gifted quilter and gardener, as well as a famously formidable card player. Her humor and steadfastness will be missed by all who knew her.
