LCA Basketball: Lady Cougars End Regular Season On High Note
WINONA LAKE – Saturday’s 54-32 girls basketball win for Lakeland Christian Academy was one for the books.
The victory was number 14 on the season for LCA, which set a program record for wins in a season.
LCA made sure the night would be an historic one with a massive 18-4 bulge in the first quarter, and moved the lead to 17 by the half. Eight players got into the scoring column, led by Hope Fancil’s 17 points in her final home game. Fancil also had nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks in the contest.
Tori Calizo added 10 points and four rebounds, Brady Gross totaled nine points and nine boards, Jess Slone had six points and four boards, and Anna Reimink had six points, six steals, four assists and three rebounds.
LCA ends its regular season at 14-8 overall, winners of five straight, and will get a rematch with Bethany Christian (12-10) in the opening game of the Bethany Christian Sectional Tuesday night. Bethany beat LCA by one, 30-29, in early December and then by nine, 37-28, at the Bethany tournament championship two weeks later.
