Warsaw Man Arrested After Holding Gun To Female’s Head And Robbing Her
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after pulling a gun on a female and stealing cash and a cell phone from the woman on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Timothy L. Bowen Jr., 27, 2441 West CR 250S No. 87, Warsaw, was charged with count I robbery with a deadly weapon, a level 3 felony, and count II theft, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Bowen and the female had been chatting on Facebook when the female mentioned to Bowen that she was going to walk to Walmart. The female advised that Bowen offered to give her a ride, and picked her up outside of the American Legion. The female states they went to Pak-A-Sak at Detroit and Center streets, then to McDonalds on North Detroit Street.
The female advised that after turning onto Anchorage Road, Bowen slammed on the brakes and stopped the vehicle. She stated that Bowen then put a handgun to the left side of her face. Bowen proceeded to steal $160 in cash and a Motorola Virgin Mobile cell phone from the female.
According to the affidavit, the female stated she was able to open the door and get out of the vehicle. She gave a description of the vehicle, a silver Mercury SUV, to Warsaw Police officers and confirmed, after viewing photos of different types of Mercury SUVs, that Bowen had been driving a Mercury Mariner.
Officers located a gray Mercury Mariner at a residence on Wooster Road, Winona Lake. When officers arrived at the residence, a male exited the back door. When ordered to stop, the male complied. The male, identified as Bowen, was carrying $138 cash in his hand. The owner of the residence gave consent for police to search his residence. Inside the bathroom, officers located a black handgun that did not belong to the homeowner.
Police interviewed Bowen, who admitted giving the female a ride but stated he did not rob her. Bowen said he was driving her so that she could pick up drugs that he arranged for her to buy. He advised he used her cell phone to talk to the other drug dealers. Bowen further advised that he confirmed the drug transaction at the location he was given and dropped the female off at a house on Bluewater Drive. Bowen stated he drove off in the vehicle after dropping the female off at the house.
Bowen advised that his fingerprints would be on the handgun and that the gun had been in the vehicle.
Bowen was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
