LCA Basketball: Cougars Earn Earmark Win
FORT WAYNE – Lakeland Christian Academy notched a big win Thursday night in girls hoops, and added a little history in the moment.
LCA topped host Fort Wayne Blackhawk, 37-33. In doing so, LCA earned its first win over Blackhawk as a member of the IHSAA, ending a ten-game slide to the Braves, the past six as an IHSAA member. The win was also the first time coach Allison Kauffman beat her alma mater in four tries, and the 13th win for the Cougars ties the standard for wins for the program with the 2009-10 team.
In the win, Hope Fancil poured in 22 points and had eight rebounds to lead the charge. Tori Calizo added six points and 11 boards and Anna Reimink once again filled the stat sheet with four points, five rebounds, five steals, four blocks and three assists.
Courtney McKown and Hallie VanderDussen each scored 10 points for the Braves.
LCA (13-8) finishes its regular season Saturday at home against Clinton Christian.
