Mary D. Shrum — UPDATED
Mary D. Shrum, 95, North Manchester and formerly of Rochester and Akron, passed at 4:15 a.m., Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.
She was born on Nov. 12, 1922, in Fulton, to Frank and Iva (Tester) Bowen.
She married on June 4, 1946, in North Manchester to Donald L. Shrum, who preceded on March 6, 2002.
Mary had worked at the Riddle School in Rochester for 15 years where she was head cook until she retired. She had also worked at Wiles Dept. Store in Rochester.
She was a 1940 graduate of Chester Township High School of North Manchester. She attended the Akron Church of God where she also helped in the Wee Care Children’s Ministries looking after children. She and her husband were members of the Fulton County Campers.
She is survived by her daughter: Crystal (John) Weida, Akron; son: Douglas Shrum, Caribou, Maine; grandchildren: Johna (Mike) Kaser, Akron; Jena (Darrell) Shewman, Akron; Jeremia (Luda) Shrum, Wooster, Mass.; Karon Rosnog, Caribou, Maine; 12 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in deab by her parents, a daughter-in-law and a sister.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at Hartzler Funeral Home. The service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, with Pastor Kathy Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF Cemetery, Rochester.
