Valley Wrestling: Vikings Eighth At TRCs
BUNKER HILL — Tippecanoe Valley’s wrestling team put up 79 points for eighth place at the Three Rivers Conference Tournament at Maconaquah on Saturday. Peru won the meet with 232 points ahead of Maconaquah’s 214. Rochester finished third with a distant 180.5 score.
Seth Hoffman earned Valley its best finish of the day with runner-up honors at 132 pounds, moving through the winners bracket with a decision and third-period pinfall before suffering a pinfall loss to Whitko’s Kaleb Busz late in the first period of their championship match. Jonathan Humes finished third at 152 following a 6-2 decision over Maconaquah’s Trent Burns in their consolation final. Isaac Randall was fifth at 172 with an early second-period fall of Maconaquah’s Jared Blake in their consolation match.
Haylee Brown was seventh at 113 pounds, pinning Southwood’s Jackson Taylor in 39 seconds in her final match of the day. Luis Castillo was seventh at 126, capping his day with a 22-second fall of Maconaquah’s Fletcher Williams. Jordan Owens wound up in seventh at 145 following a second-period pinfall of North Miami’s Eli Henderson in his finale. Chevy Teeter was seventh at 160 with a pinfall of Wabash’s Alec Wallisch, and Ian Becker was seventh at 220.
