Valley Swimming: Vikings Competitive At TRC Championships
BUNKER HILL – Tippecanoe Valley’s swim teams both finished fourth at the Three Rivers Conference Tournament Saturday. The girls scored 147 points to finish behind Manchester’s 161 score, while the boys put up 165 points behind Wabash’s 172.
Maconaquah swept the championships with a 377 on the girls’ side and a 355.5 on the boys’ side.
Chase Brower won Valley its only title in the 50 free with a 22.01 stop well ahead of Maconaquah’s Alex Davis and his 23.59 time. Brower also swam anchor for Valley’s third-place 200 medley relay team, as he, Dakota Prater, Stephen Mason and Daniel Alexander clocked 1:55.17 there, and the quartet combined for another third-place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:43.85. Zach Hodge finished fourth in the boys diving competition with 299.75 total points, while Alexander was also fourth in the butterfly in 1:02.69 and sixth in the Individual Medley with a 2:26.79 time. Jacob McDonald, Hodge, Johnny Gonsalez and Tucker Shull combined for a 1:55.82 time and fifth place in the 200 free relay, and Mason was fifth in the breaststroke in 1:15.27.
In the Lady Vikings’ best finish of the meet, Olivia Livengood swam a 1:11.32 stop for third place in the girls butterfly. Ava Craig, Livengood, Jerzey Conley and Mayde Fear finished fourth in the 400 free relay in 4:25.25, and Fear placed sixth in the girls 50 free with a 28.23 time. Tiphanie Hodge was fifth in the girls’ dive with a score of 299.75, and the Lady Vikings’ 200 free relay team of Chloe Hostetler, Tahya Lybarger, Haley Baker and Ava Craig clocked 2:15.46 for fifth place in their event.
