Wawasee Sports Wrap: Jan. 16
Gymnastics
Wawasee cleared a hurdle of sorts Tuesday, breaking 103 for the first time this season with a 103.55 at West Noble in gymnastics action. West Noble tallied 80.375 in its efforts.
Wawasee welcomed back Aundreya Wegener to full-time status after easing her way back to action from a back injury. Wegener was second on the beam at 8.45 and third on floor at 8.425.
Wawasee had three gymnasts pull a first on the night, with Alyssa Minnix taking honors on bars with an 8.6, Reagan Atwood scoring 9.3 on beam and 8.5 on vault, and Jada Parzygnot 9.425 on floor. Minnix was second on vault at 8.25, Atwood second on floor at 9.4, and Parzygnot second on bars at 8.525.
The four Lady Warriors would taking the top four spots on all-around, Atwood at 35.625, Parzygnot at 34.2, Minnix at 32.525 and Wegener at 32.025.
Kirstin Knox paced West Noble with fourth-place scores of 7.8 on vault and 8.175 on floor.
Wawasee (2-1) will visit Warsaw next Tuesday.
Middle School Basketball
Milford and Wawasee split its sixth grade girls basketball games. Wawasee won the A game 24-16 while Milford won the B game 16-8. Jaci Worrell had 10 points and Stephanie Anacleto scored eight points among Milford’s output. Wawasee stats were not provided.
