Jeffrey Scott Gaerte — UPDATED
Jeffrey Scott Gaerte, a resident of Chapman Lake, passed away quietly Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Known by most as “Jeff,” he was 53 years old.
Gaerte was born on March 4, 1964, in Whitley County. He was the son of Larry D. and Shirley A. (Walker) Gaerte. He spent most of his lifetime in Warsaw and the surrounding area, graduating from Warsaw Community High School in 1983.
He had worked at K-Mart in Warsaw and at Shoe Show. He enjoyed working and was always in high spirits at his jobs as he enjoyed interacting with customers and his co-workers.
Those closest to him would describe Gaerte as a ‘bubbly’ person as he was easy to connect with and very social. He enjoyed sports and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, avid Green Bay Packers Fan, and thoroughly enjoyed Notre Dame Women’s Basketball. He also loved his nieces and supported them in everything they did. Of course, he loved supporting them in sporting events. He also enjoyed watching movies, both at home and in the theatre. Overall, he simply loved life and spending time with those around him.
Those surviving Gaerte with memories to treasure include his parents: Larry and Shirley Gaerte; his sister, Heather (spouse, Louis) Desenberg and two nieces: Page and Lex Desenberg, all of Warsaw.
Friends and family will gather for a time of visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral service and interment will be privately attended in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
