Breanna Lynn Abbott
Breanna Lynn Abbott, 25, Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 5:24 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at St. Vincent’s Hospice, Indianapolis. This followed an inspiring and valiant battle with muscular dystrophy, congestive heart failure and diabetes.
Despite health concerns she remained a role-model for life; living each day to the fullest, packing in all she could manage, brightening the days of the many lives she influenced along life’s journey.
On Aug. 15, 1992, Abbott was born in Rochester to Todd and Rhonda Abrams Abbott. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister, Bailey and two brothers, Brett and Bryce.
With a passion for basketball, Bree played league ball from grades K-7. She also was an RMS cheerleader. For nine years, until age 18, she attended the muscular dystrophy summer camp for kids.
In 2011 she graduated from Rochester High School. During her high school years Abbott transitioned as basketball manager for the Lady Z’s and was a member of the student council. Fulton County 4-H Fair week was a sweet time with Burtons Busy Bees. This allowed her to express creativity with projects she prepared including her favorites in photography, scrapbooking, baking and aerospace. Abbott attended Ball State University, studying criminology.
As a mother, Abbott was so very proud of her handsome son, Bentley Ivan Abbott. Born on May 11, 2016, she enjoyed adventures in life with him for the past 20 months, excited to share his accomplishments from infancy to his current toddler stage. This blue-eyed, blonde beauty was full of love as she persevered through life with great tenacity and aplomb. With a positive attitude, great spunk and pizzazz she embraced each day, one at a time. Her radiant smile always lit up the room.
Left to cherish Abbott’s memory are her son, Bentley Ivan Abbott; parents: Todd and Rhonda Abbott, Rochester; a sister, Bailey Abbott and fiancee’ Keaton Irwin, Fort Wayne; two brothers: Brett Abbott and Bryce Abbott; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Abrams; paternal grandparents, Don and Lois Abbott, all of Rochester; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her treasured canine companion Sofia, the white and black Shih-Tzu.
Abbott was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ivan Abrams, Feb. 7, 2016; and her aunt Sherri I. Hammel, Nov. 7, 2011.
Chaplain Teri White will officiate services. Interment will be in the Citizens Cemetery.
