UPDATE: Names Released In US 30 Crash
WARSAW — Names have been released regarding the police chase on US 30 that ended with two people dead and two critically injured last night, Jan. 13.
The driver of the suspect vehicle, a white 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, has been identified as Jacob Slone, 19 of Warsaw, and the passenger has been identified as Paige Jefferson, 16 of Warsaw. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner. Family has been notified.
Injured in the crash was the driver of a silver 2017 GMC, Miguel Linares Jr., age 34 of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and his passenger, 35 year old Nora Linares, also of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Linares suffered critical and potentially life-threatening injuries. Nora Linares suffered injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening. Both are still being treated at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
The crash reconstruction investigation remains ongoing and will take several weeks to be completed. US 30 reopened to eastbound traffic around 4 a.m. today, Jan. 14.
The crash resulted after an Indiana State Trooper responding to a theft that allegedly had occurred at the Meijer located at 1200 Lake City Highway in Warsaw.
The trooper saw a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The suspect vehicle fled eastbound on US30 and drove through a red light at the intersection of US30 and Parker Street, crashing into three other vehicles.
