LCA Basketball: Cougs Drop Roadie
MISHAWAKA – Host Mishawaka Christian was able to build up an eight-point lead at the half and maintained it in the second half, defeating Lakeland Christian 39-30 Thursday night.
After taking a 10-7 lead after one quarter, Mishawaka spread out a 19-11 lead at the break and continued to lead by eight, 31-23, after three quarters of play.
Elyona DoBrodt did the heavy lifting for the Wildcats, scoring 17 points to lead all scorers. Joy Bontrager and Jordan Knowlton each added eight points in the win.
Tori Calizo had a busy night for LCA, dropping in 13 points, seven boards and two steals. Anna Reimink had eight rebounds, seven steals and two blocks, but didn’t score. Hope Fancil added 11 points and two blocks.
Brady Gross added five points and seven rebounds for the Cougars, which fall to 9-8 overall.
LCA plays again Tuesday when it will once again travel to St. Joseph County to meet Granger Christian for a 6 p.m. tip.
In addition to the high school varsity playing Thursday, the junior high also took the court at home and defeated the Michiana Home School Thunder 40-11. LCA, which also won 34-27 Tuesday against Cornerstone Christian, moves to 3-1 on the season and work again Friday against Granger Christian in Winona Lake.
