North Webster Chamber Begins 2018 With Organization
NORTH WEBSTER — Getting things off on the right foot for 2018 was the main focus of the first meeting of 2018 of the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce. Members and board members met Monday, Jan. 8, in the Tippecanoe Township Building with President Jim Smith, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Loose Moose Motorsports presiding.
Membership applications for 2018 were going out immediately via email and the U.S. Postal Service. A $5 discount on dues will be granted if they are returned by Thursday, March 1.
Smith noted the breakdown of membership dues is individuals $20, first time business or organization $35, not for profit organizations $65, businesses with nine or less employees $65, and businesses with 10 or more employees $90. Dues pay for all of 2018.
Each membership entitles the business to one free listing in the community guide and on the chamber website. If you have multiple businesses and want additional guide and website listings, each one is $10 additionally. Fill out separate applications and submit together with one payment.
To be listed in the North Webster Community Guide, the deadline is Thursday, March 15. Send your business name, contact name, mailing address, physical address business phone and email and website address to NWTTCC, P.O Box 298, North Webster, IN 46555 along with a check.
It was announced by the awards dinner committee it will be held in the evening Monday, March 12. The chamber board voted to have chamber member The Sleepy Owl cater the dinner in its new banquet hall facility located in North Webster on East 800N.
The committee has sent out nomination forms for person of the year and small and large business of the year. Chamber members are urged to nominate for the awards. Small business of the year must have five or less employees and have been a chamber member for five or more years. Another award is for large business of the year with six or more employees and a chamber member for five or more years.
Person of the year is an individual who has shown outstanding participation and involvement in the local community. They should have invested themselves in the people and future of North Webster and Tippecanoe Township without regard for his or her personal gain. They are not required to be a chamber member.

The 2018 Dixie Day Festival Committee was formed. It will be held Saturday, July 28. Car show chairmen are Smith; Jen Ducey, Tippecanoe Township; and Susan Stump, The Papers. Dixie Sternwheeler representative Karilyn Metcalf heads the chamber tent while the 5K Fun Run is helmed by Brenda Peterson, Lake City Bank; and Amanda Meerzo, Mohawk Piers.
Pletcher Insurance’s Stacey Cox is in charge of food vendors with the artisan fair under Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations Floral & Gifts and Mindy Scaggs, ReMax Lakes. Smith is in charge of the tractor show; Martha Stoelting, The Papers, advertising; and Dino Coverstone, Sock’s Marina, the boat show.
New board members Paula Miller, Paula Miller Farm; and Meerzo were welcomed by the board.
The next meeting of the chamber of commerce will be noon Monday, Feb. 12, at the Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St.
