Warsaw Community Public Library Launches Winter Reading Program
WARSAW — Warsaw Community Public Library invites patrons to use their indoor time to catch up on their reading and to earn prizes while doing so.
The library has launched its annual adult and teen Winter Reading Program for patrons ages 13 and up.
WCPL’s Winter Reading Program operates much like the summer reading program, though on a more simplified basis. Program signups are on now. Adult and teen readers can visit the WCPL adult reference desk or go to www.warsawlibrary.org and create a username and password. Once registered, they can begin reading for prizes, earning one prize for every 500 pages read, up to 10,000 pages.
Participants can read books in any format – print, eBook, audiobook or eAudio. To log audio or eAudio, readers simply refer to the print edition and enter the equivalent page count. All pages must be logged by no later than 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Readers are on the honor system. That means if somebody reads only the first 50 pages of a 400-page book, they are asked to count only those 50 pages.
Prizes include the following: Hershey milk chocolate bar, Snickers candy bar, package of tissues, book, lotion, Bun candy, Sour Patch Kids candy, 100 Grand chocolate bar, Three Musketeers candy bar, Reese’s peanut butter cups, coffee, hot cocoa, bouncy balls, Junior Mints, Heath candy bar, Butterfinger candy bar, Hershey milk chocolate bar with almonds, beer nuts, Nerds Rope, Jolly Rancher bites, Reese’s Nutrageous, Kit Kat bar, Sour Skittles, Hershey’s Cookie Layer Crunch candy bar, Q-tips, lint roller and Clorox wipes.
Prizes that were previously used during the WCPL Summer Reading Program are also available, such as colored pencils, notebooks and keychains. A complete list of all prizes is available at the adult reference desk.
