Valley Basketball: Norsemen Rally Past Vikings
WABASH – A tough final quarter kept the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team from getting into the win column in conference play Friday night.
Host Northfield rallied in the fourth period to edge past the Vikings 58-52 in a Three Rivers Conference contest.
Valley led 42-38 after the third period before being outscored 20-10 in the final frame by the Norsemen.
The Vikings, who have lost three in a row, drop to 2-8 overall and move to 0-3 in the TRC. Northfield, which snaps a three-game losing streak, improves to 3-6 overall and goes to 1-2 in league play.
The game was tied at 10-10 after the opening period before Valley took a 29-24 halftime lead.
The Vikings shot just 5-27 from the field in the second half, while the Norsemen were 10-19.
Tanner Trippiedi led the way for Valley with 19 points.
Parkur Dalrymple and Cam Parker each had 10 points for the Vikings. Alex Morrison led the team with nine rebounds.
Valley finished 18-50 from the field, including 7-28 from 3-point range. The Vikings were 9-16 from the free throw line and had 17 turnovers.
Northfield shot 19-14 overall from the field, including 3-14 from distance. The hosts were a big 17-27 from the line.
Valley won the junior varsity game 51-27.
Valley hosts Plymouth Saturday night. Northfield plays at Madison Grant Saturday night.
