William L. Newsome
William “Will” L. Newsome, 72, Mentone, passed at 5:22 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
He was born on May 12, 1945, in Hihat, Ky. to Perry and Nola (Sword) Newsome.
He drove a feed truck for Cargil, worked for Newsome Building Service as a floor maintenance man and for Rozella Ford Golf Course as a grounds keeper.
He served his country in U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time on the course.
He was survived by his son, William (Sandra) Newsome, Willard, Ohio; six grandchildren; brother, Cornelius “Whitey” (Judy) Newsome, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his sons: Edward, Arkie and Trampis; his parents; and six sisters and four brothers.
A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Dean Ealey will officiate. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, where fully graveside military rites will be performed by the Warsaw American Legion Post 49.
