James B. Wolfe — UPDATED
James B. “Jim” Wolfe, 58, Medaryville, formerly of Fulton County, passed away at 3:46 a.m., Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at LaPorte- IU Hospital.
On March 12, 1959, James Brian Wolfe was born in Huntington. He was the treasured son of Courtney and Marjorie A. Wallace Wolfe. Wolfe grew up in the Mexico and Macy areas and graduated from Caston High School in 1977. He was a proud member of the Army Indiana National Guard from 1977 – 1985. Jim was honorably discharged with the rank of Army Specialist 4.
In Medaryville, on May 24, 2002, Wolfe married the love of his life, Geneva Elizabeth Waddle. They enjoyed more than 15 years of life’s adventures.
With a strong work ethic Jim worked in maintenance and machine repair at Caterpillar of Lafayette for the past decade. While residing in Fulton county he was a member of the Union Township Fire Department as a firefighter-EMT. He also served our county as a sheriff’s deputy. His memberships included American Legion Post # 96 of Medaryville, the Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society Inc, Tip Wa Antique Tractor & Engine Club of Walton, and the National Rifle Association.
As a railroad buff, he and his dad, Court built a railroad track on the family’s property near Nyona Lake. More recently he restored the Monon antique scale model train that accommodated up to 20 passengers. As a photographer he also created an interesting portfolio of railroad related images including landmarks, bridges and various perspectives of track.
Left to cherish the memories of Jim are his wife, Geneva; daughter, Holly Zartman and husband Paul, Rochester; two step- daughters: Jessica Tharpe and husband Chris, LaPorte; Hannah Czarnecki, Medaryville; two sons: Chevy Wolfe, Kewanna; James Wolfe Jr., Medaryville; two step-sons: Daniel Timm, Valparaiso; Matthew Timm, LaPorte; sister: Pattie Wolfe-Newgent and husband Craig, Fort Wayne; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Joyce Waddle, Medaryville; two sisters-in-law: two brothers-in-law; several aunts and uncles; many grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; canine companion, Max a buff colored Cocker Spaniel. Preceding Wolfe in death are his parents Court and Marge Wolfe and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A celebration of the life of Mr. James B. “Jim” Wolfe will be 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. His family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
