James O. Elder
James O. Elder, 78, Warsaw, passed away at 1:35 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at his residence.
He was born May 27, 1939, in Pierceton to Howard and Florence (Slusher) Elder. On Aug. 21, 1991, he married Ruth Clark. They shared 26 years together. He was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed spending time working on engines with his brothers, hunting with his boys and fishing on Sellers Lake. He was a member of the American Legion Post 258, S.A. L., Pierceton, where he faithfully served as Commander.
He is survived by his wife Ruth; daughter, Lora (Mark) Anglin, Warsaw; son, Kenneth (Rita) Elder, Pierceton; step-children: Adam Clark, Lisa Cassel, and Terry McCurdy; granddaughter; Heather (Justin) Deaton, Zionsville; grandsons: Scott Elder, Winona Lake; Joshua (Riley) Anglin, Darl Mosher, Lucas Elder, Warsaw; Steven (Sondra) Elder, Pierceton; six great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister, Carol Bragg, Tennessee; brothers: Max (Mazie) Elder, Pierceton; and Howard (Lynne) Elder, New Haven. In addition, 11 step grandchildren and two great-step grandchildren survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, son James Kevin Elder, brother Glen Elder, and step-father Max Miller.
A memorial gathering will be conducted at the Pierceton American Legion at a later date. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
