WPD Investigating Freedom Express Armed Robbery
WARSAW — The Warsaw Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday morning at the Freedom Express, located at 801 E. Center Street, Warsaw.
On Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 10:24 a.m., central dispatch received a 911 call from the Freedom Express advising they were just robbed at knife point and the suspect had fled the area. The suspect is a white male, and was wearing a black leather jacket with a white stripe on the sleeves, blue jeans and blue/white shoes. The suspects face was covered by a black/white Jack Daniels bandana and sunglasses. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the subject.
The initial investigation showed that the suspect approached the clerk and displayed the knife. The suspect and clerk walk to the register and empty the cash from the register. The clerk is then forced into the cooler as the robber exits the store. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
