Richard P. Williams
Richard P. Williams, 90, of Goshen, died Saturday, Dec. 30, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1927, in Elkhart to Herbert and Ethel (Irick) Williams.
On August 24, 1947, he married Margaret Puterbaugh in Elkhart.
She survives along with two sons, Douglas P. (Lynn) Williams of Elkhart and Bradley N. (Deborah) Williams of Union, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Alyssa (Sean) Sauer, Kelsey and Matt Williams, Taylor, Evan, Bailey and Kennedy Williams and Oliva and Ian Wagner; a sister, M. Joanne (Keith) Klofenstein of Elkhart and a brother, Charles D. Williams of Miami.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Herbert E. Williams.
Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War II.He was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland for his term of service.
Mr. Williams joined the staff of The Elkhart Truth in 1956 as an assistant business manager and eventually serving as business manager. Thereafter he was elected to the office of secretary-treasurer of Truth Publishing Co. Inc., Truth Radio Corporation, Pathfinder Communications Corporation and Federated Media. He retired from active service with the companies in April 1991.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Institute of Newspaper Controllers and Finance Officers, Broadcast Financial Management association, ADEC and The American Council of the Blind.
He was a member of the Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 3, for a funeral service at Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren, 24955 C.R. 24, Elkhart. Revs. Dean Heisey and Mike Martin will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the church.
