North Webster Library News
NORTH WEBSTER — After Christmas festivities wind down next week and the kids get bored and restless, bring them to North Webster Community Public Library for Family Bingo 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 28. It’s fun and easy for kids of all ages to play and everyone wins prizes.
After Bingo, check out some books or play kits in the youth department to keep the kids entertained over Christmas break. The library has 24 themed play kits that contain books and educational toys that teach and entertain. They are also ideal for grandparents or others who have children visiting over the holidays.
Spots are still available for the evening Beginning Genealogy Course that begins 5:30 p.m. Jan. 8. This four-class course will be held every Monday evening in January and will teach you how to get started researching your family tree. The course is free, but advance registration is required to attend. Sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122 to register.
Family holiday gatherings are a perfect opportunity to learn about your family history. Talk with older relatives about the people they remember, gather family stories, or have them help you identify old photographs. They will love reminiscing and you will learn a lot about your ancestors.
If you have returned Christmas cards due to incorrect addresses, you can find updated addresses of relatives and friends on the AtoZ Databases available on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us. Just click on the research tools tab at the top of the home page, then click on AtoZ Databases. Go to the “Find a Person” section and type in the person’s name to find their current address. It’s a quick and easy online tool provided by the library and available to everyone.
To celebrate the holidays, the library will be closed Christmas Day, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Dec. 26; and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
