Parkview Warsaw Receives Comfort Blankets For Young Patients
WARSAW — Going to the hospital can be a frightening experience for a child, and being transferred to another facility by ambulance or helicopter may create additional feelings of stress and anxiety. In an effort to ease the fears of their youngest patients, nurses from Parkview Warsaw’s Nursing Council Action Team devised a plan with members of a local church willing to help.
As a result of the partnership, dozens of handmade fleece blankets were delivered to Parkview Warsaw’s emergency department, allowing nurses and staff members to provide an additional level of comfort and security to children who must be transferred to another facility.
“We are so happy to be able to offer these blankets to our littlest patients,” said Alicia Williams, NCAT lead, Parkview Warsaw. “The work the ladies of Aldersgate United Methodist Church have provided will offer a wonderful sense of care and comfort to children. We feel fortunate to be part of such a giving, caring community.”
Members of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church remarked they were happy to help in this unique way. “I enjoy making the blankets,” said Pat Elliott. “It’s satisfying knowing they will be used to comfort children in a stressful situation.”
