Thomas Keith Witmer — UPDATED
Thomas Keith “Tom” Witmer, 66, passed away peacefully at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, with his children at his side in his home. He was born on Dec. 28, 1950 in Wolf Lake to Thomas Edison and Betty Eloise (Henwood) Witmer.
He graduated in 1969 from Columbia City High School, attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime Whitley and Kosciusko County area resident. He was employed at D.R. Smith Trucking in Akron for 5 years, was a farmer, and a lifelong truck driver.
He was a member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253, formerly attended the West Etna Community Church in Larwill, IN, and was known for his unrelenting generosity and kindness.
He is survived by two daughters: Carisa (Shay) Addison, Syracuse; Katie Beltane, Boise, Idaho; two sons: Josh (Loretta) Witmer, Kekaha, Hawaii; and Tobias (Amber Brown) Witmer, Milford; six grandchildren; a sister, Cheri (Tom) Settecerri, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Bushong of Syracuse Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will take place at the funeral home following services. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Burial will take place at West Etna Cemetery at a later date.
