Grace Volleyball: Hill Honored With All-American Awards
WINONA LAKE – Alexa Hill was awarded for her breakout season with a pair of All-American awards for the Grace College volleyball team.
Hill, a sophomore setter, was named AVCA/NCCAA First Team All-American as well as honorable mention for NAIA All-American. Her NAIA nod was Grace’s first since Dana Johnston was honorable mention in 2013.
She was also given a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which honors a student-athlete’s athletic and academic achievements.
Hill led the Crossroads League and finished No. 5 in the NAIA with 1,602 assists this season. She had the sixth-most assists in a single season in team history and is already No. 8 in career assists. She averaged 10.7 assists per set to go along with 2.3 digs per set.
As a team Grace had five players earn Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete status. Sara Miller, Sierra Smith, Kari Feddema, Kelsee Zuidema and Marta Bleed all were Scholar-Athletes, which recognizes upperclassmen who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or better.
The Lady Lancers reached their fourth NCCAA National Tournament in the past seven years, winning two matches in the tournament and finishing with a 23-17 record under head coach Katie Van Hofwegen.
