Warsaw Senior Surprised With Full-Ride To IU Kokomo
WARSAW — Warsaw Community High School senior Ciera Stout was surprised with a full-ride scholarship to IU Kokomo on Friday, Dec. 15. Representatives from the university visited the high school to give Stout and her mother, Amber Dippon, the big news.
The Herbert Presidential scholarship will cover all tuition and mandatory fees for four years. The scholarship also encourages study abroad with an additional available stipend and will provide Stout with a laptop.
According to a press release from WCHS, “Stout interviewed with a panel of three faculty members on Dec. 9, in Kokomo. Fifty percent of the score total was weighted on the interview; the other 50 percent was based on Stout’s high school academic credentials.”
Around 1,400 students are to be admitted at IU Kokomo for the 2018-19 school year. University faculty interviewed the top 43 students to determine a recipient; Stout was one of four selected to receive the scholarship.
