Annual Consignment Sale Scheduled For This Weekend
WARSAW — The annual Toy Time consignment sale and Combined Community Services Toy Giveaway is taking place now.
Ami Pitt, with help from family and friends, has been organizing this event for 24 years. Pitt and her team have collected gently used toys through consignment and donations from area residents. A two-day consignment sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Kosciusko County fairgrounds.
“We’re taking in good quality, used toys. The consigner gets the benefit of 50 percent of what it sells for. We get the benefit of trying to turn it into a new toy, and if we can’t turn it into a new toy it’s re-homed and ends up under someone’s tree,” Pitt explained.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase brand new toys for the Combined Community Services Toy Giveaway to be given to local families who may not otherwise be able to afford them. The CCS Giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20.
The Toy Giveaway benefits children in the community who are not part of the Toys for Tots or Adopt-A-Family programs.
Pitt partners with American Bikers Aimed Toward Education, who donate items geared toward babies and teenagers, and Toys for Tots for this event.
“Between the three of us combined, we service about 1,700 kids,” said Pitt.
“Our whole motivation for doing this is to share Jesus,” said Pitt, “and to let them to know that even though they may be having a hard time right now, God has got this and they are going to be okay.”
