Warsaw Swimming: Tigers Dominate On Senior Night
WARSAW – The Warsaw swim teams celebrated Senior Night with an impressive showing Wednesday evening.
The hosts definitely had the most in dominating wins over Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference action.
The Warsaw ladies posted a 132-54 win, while the boys notched a 131-47 victory in the league meets at WCHS.
The hosts won every event in the pool on the evening on both sides of competition. Plymouth’s lone win, in both the girls and boys meets, came in the diving competition.
The duo of Lauren Kuhl and Laurel Moeller, a pair of seniors, led the way for the Warsaw ladies as they moved to 5-1 in NLC action.
Kuhl won both the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke events in respective times of 5:51.48 and 1:08.34. She also swam on a pair of winning relay teams, combining with Olivia Herman, Taylor Gunter and Delaney Wihebrink to win the 200 medley relay in 1:58.21 and combining with Herman, Gunter and Moeller to win the 400 freestyle relay race in 4:04.03.
Moeller won the 200 freestyle race in a top time of 2:07.46. She also teamed with Wihebrink, Morgan Bruner and Bella Coffing to take first in the 200 freestyle relay event in a time of 1:51.70.
Gunter won both the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly in times of 2:28.83 and 1:05.8 respectively. Wihebrink placed first in the 100 freestyle in 58.58 and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.33.
Herman won the 50 freestyle in a time of 26.27.
The senior tandem of Evan Borchers and Nick Zogbi both had big efforts in the Warsaw boys’ victory.
Borchers won the 200 freestyle race in 1:56.18 and also placed first in the 100 butterfly in 57.72. He also teamed with Alex Cook, Ian Deming and Zach LaLonde to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.11.
Zogbi took top honors in the 500 freestyle in 5:22.19 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.77. He also swam with Grant Knight, Cook and Ian Deming on the winning 200 medley relay team, who won in 1:43.44.
Cook won the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.13 and also captured first in the 100 freestyle in a time of 51.99.
Knight won the 200 IM in 2:07.52 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.16. The foursome of Jacob LaLonde, Andrew Deming, Nathan Taylor and Victor Mejia won the 400 freestyle relay event in 4:05.14.
The Warsaw boys are now 4-2 in NLC competition.
Both Warsaw teams return to action Saturday in the Carroll Invitational.
