Triton Basketball: Zebras Get Late Wind For Win
ROCHESTER – It took 24 minutes for either team to show life Wednesday night. When it mattered, Rochester rose to the occasion to edge Triton, 32-28, in girls basketball.
With the score sitting at 15-13 Triton after three quarters, both teams almost outdid themselves in the fourth. Triton scored 13 points in the quarter, but Rochester managed to ramp up its output to 19 points, including key free throws late in the contest. The Zebras led by as much as six, 26-20, in the fourth and used a 13-3 run to get by in the fourth.
Kennedy Musselman again was the driving force for Rochester (9-4), recording 13 points and nine rebounds on the night. Morgan Ruff added eight points despite a frigid 1-8 shooting night, going 5-7 from the line.
Triton had seven players score, but only had Whytnie Miller and Hannah Wanemacher hit for six points each on a combined 3-13 shooting night. Miller added four rebounds and two assists. Triton’s struggled from three-point range didn’t help, going 1-11 but both teams combined to hit just 2-20 attempts.
Triton’s JV earned a 35-20 win over Rochester. Abbey Viers paced the Trojans with nine points while Akyra Oswalt was right behind with eight points.
Triton (5-8) plays again Saturday night at Pioneer.
