Roxie Waggoner
Roxie Waggoner, 81, of Rushville, went home to see her Savior on Dec. 8, 2017, in Rushville. She was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Arlington to Dallas H. and Maxine (Macy) Earnest. Roxie was a 1954 graduate of Arlington High School. She married Ronnie Waggoner on June 14, 1987; he preceded her in death on March 5, 2000.
Roxie lived in Rush County until 1987 when she married and moved to Warsaw. She had recently returned home to Rushville a little over a year ago.
During her life, although she had many positions as a bookkeeper in Indianapolis, Rushville, Greenfield and Warsaw and worked in the insurance arena, her greatest joy was her family and friends. Her world revolved around her children and her grandchildren. Her love, faith and devotion was felt by all who knew her.
She was a former and longtime member of the Arlington Christian Church, but while in Warsaw was a member of the First Christian Church where she and her husband served for many years with adults, children and in the ladies groups. Serving wasn’t a duty for her, it was a privilege.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Edwards, Warsaw; stepdaughters: Leisa Waggoner (Kim Allman), Indianapolis; Senita (Mitch) Summe, California; and Ronda (Roy) Doucette, Georgia; a stepson, Alan (Lois) Waggoner, Syracuse; brothers: Fred (Janet) Earnest, Rushville; Bill (Carol) Earnest, Logansport; and Danny (Rosalie) Earnest, Spiceland; stepbrother, Jerry Binder, Rushville; stepsisters, Janet Earnest, Rushville, and Joanne Baugh, New Palestine; grandchildren: Zac Parr, Kearston Ogden, Mitchell Gosnell (Megan), Colin Ogden, Chloe Gosnell and Denver Edwards; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Catlyn Jade Gosnell; several stepgrandchildren and step great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roxie was preceded in death by a son, Scott Edwards, daughters, Marcia Earnest and Karen Ogden, a granddaughter, Catlyn Gosnell and a sister, Nancy Leach.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Arlington Christian Church. Pastor’s Gary Holt and Gary Boschain will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4:30 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.12, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
It was Roxie’s wish to help fund her grandsons symphony trip to Europe next year and if anyone would like to contribute to help her wishes come true then please make checks payable to Denver Edwards.
