North Webster Chamber Holds Holiday Party
NORTH WEBSTER — Instead of having a regular meeting at noon the second Monday of the month, the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce hosted a Christmas dinner for all members and their guests. It was held in the Tippecanoe Township Building Monday evening, Dec. 11.
Outgoing President Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations Floral & Gifts, recognized Dave and Leslie Oakes of Dave’s Electric, Cooling and Heating and Martha Stoelting of The Papers for their outstanding contributions to the chamber and the North Webster community with special gifts.
Dave’s Electric did extensive electrical work for the chamber for the 2017 Dixie Day Festival, even coordinating with NIPSCO, while Stoelting regularly covers chamber events in her job and does publicity in many media facets for the organization as a board member.
A highlight of the evening was the dessert contest with at least a baker’s dozen entries. Raging from cookies, bars and cakes to a trifle and a tart, Ward was declared the winner by two judges in a blind contest. Doing the taste testing were Felicia Baker, North Webster-Tippecanoe Township EMS, and Dan Buell, North Webster Police Department.
A social time was enjoyed by guests before the meal. Dr. Terry Frederick, The Watershed Foundation, delivered the blessing. The event was catered by chamber member Adrift BBQ with the contest’s entrants as dessert.
The planning committee consisted of board members Frederick, Stacey Cox, Pletcher Insurance; and Susan Stump, The Papers. Steve Ward was the bartender.
The next regular meeting of the chamber will be noon Monday, Jan. 8, at the Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St.
