Warsaw Woman Arrested After Escaping From Handcuffs, Police Vehicle
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was trespassing at the Victory Hotel when she was handcuffed and placed into a police vehicle. The woman then removed the handcuffs, exited the vehicle and fled the scene.
Amber Lee Wirsing, 26, Warsaw, is being charged with escape a level 5 felony, and criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 20, Wirsing was trespassing at the Victory Hotel in Warsaw. She had previously received a trespass warning on Nov. 14.
An officer with the Warsaw Police Department arrived and Wirsing advised she knew she was trespassing. The officer arrested Wirsing, handcuffed her and placed her in the patrol vehicle. The officer did note that the handcuffs appeared too large for Wirsing’s hands.
The officer went back into the Victory Hotel and when he came out he discovered the handcuffs on the ground beside the vehicle. Wirsing had removed the handcuffs, rolled the window of the vehicle down and exited the vehicle through the window.
A search for Wirsing was conducted but she was unable to be located. A warrant for her arrest was issued.
Wirsing was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 11, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
