Lakeview Cagers Claim Championship
WARSAW – The hosts had the most Saturday.
That was the case for the Lakeview Middle School 7th grade boys basketball team.
Lakeview continued its outstanding season with a pair of wins to claim the championship of its own tournament.
Jaxson Gould had 19 points and Reilley Wood 18 to pace the hosts to a 52-25 win over Summit in the title game.
Gould also had 10 rebounds and five blocked shots in the championship contest. The duo of Will Bergen and Nehemiah Wright led the defense for the champions.
Lakeview defeated Maple Creek 39-22 in the opening game of the tourney. Gould had 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, three assists and four blocked shots.
Lakeview improves to 9-2 on the season.
The Lakeview 8th grade team suffered its first loss of the season in a 48-45 final to Maple Creek in overtime in the title game of the tournament.
Kyle Dawson had 17 points and Hunter Rice nine rebounds to lead Lakeview.
Lakeview topped East Noble 55-32 in the first round. Judah Simfukwe canned 25 points and Dawson had seven rebounds.
The Lakeview 8th grade team is now 10-1.
