IDOE Awards WCS Competitive Title IV Grant
WARSAW — The Indiana Department of Education recently announced the grant recipients for the Indiana Title IV, Part A grant. Warsaw Community Schools have been selected to receive a total of $100,000, the maximum awarded through this grant. Per Title IV guidelines, grant allocations will be divided among WCS and nonpublic institutions, determined by pupil allocation.
This competitive grant will provide a new funding stream to further numerous initiatives currently underway, as well as create several new and exciting instructional tools for staff and students alike. Title IV included three main focus options: well-rounded educational opportunities, social and emotional supports and effective technology use and integration.
All three focuses will be incorporated into the implementation of the grant at WCS through providing access to additional STEM resources and technology, as well as collaboration and mentor opportunities. WCS is providing students with personalized learning opportunities, blended learning strategies, high quality-resources, collaboration and relationship-building opportunities and academic success.
Grant dollars will also assist in: providing STEM materials for elementary buildings, which may aid in future STEM certification; the purchasing of robotics materials for all elementary buildings; and the development of lakes and streams resources, curriculum and multiple outdoor spaces across the district, which will be will be accessible to all WCS students. This will include the provision of staff training in several areas including 3D printing, robotics, lakes and streams curriculum and project-based learning. These trainings will be available for a variety of teachers throughout WCS.
