OrthoWorx Hosts Religion Diversity Discussion Panel
WARSAW — OrthoWorx partnered with Kosciusko Community YMCA to host the first ever Diversity Discussion Series, a series of two panel discussions that discuss the five major religions and teachings in the world, Thursday night, Dec. 7, at the YMCA.
OrthoWorx comprised a panel of five faith leaders — one for each belief system — from Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Buddhism. The two-hour event was broken down into two portions of discussion: The differences and The similarities. “The YMCA and OrthoWorx want to create educational opportunities to show the commonalities that folks have in common. We’re all human. Differences are a good thing, not a bad thing,” explained OrthWorx Communication Specialist Gennie Brissette-Tipton.
The panel is the first of its kind offered to the public in Kosciusko County, according to Brissette-Tipton. The OrthoWorx Diversity Committee found the need to open the discussion between the different faiths as the orthopedic companies “are recruiting from around the world top talent,” making it a top priority for OrthoWorx to “have an open and welcome community” for all new residents of different backgrounds.
“We feel its important because right now our country is fairly polarized,” stated Brissette-Tipton. “Regardless of what you believe or what your background is, it seems its a lot of us versus them. The YMCA and OrthoWorx want to create educational opportunities to show the commonalities that folks have in common.”
The night wrapped up with attendees able to talk individually with the panelist and learn more about each individual belief system. According to Brissette-Tipton, OrthoWorx hopes to have more events for the series with dates to be released at a later time.
