Warsaw Girls Basketball: Rally Falls Short To Carroll
FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw girls basketball team staged a big rally Wednesday night.
It was just not quite enough to erase a huge deficit in the end though.
The Tigers, who trailed by as many as 22 points, dropped a 56-48 final to host Carroll in a non-conference game.
Warsaw, which trailed by a 47-27 count entering the final period, pulled within six points in the final frame before the Chargers held on for the win.
Carroll used a fast start to take control from the opening tip. The hosts led 8-2 en route to taking an 11-8 lead after the first quarter and a 28-19 advantage at halftime.
The Chargers, who improve to 6-3, stretched their lead to as many as 22 points late in the third quarter.
Warsaw shot just 15-45 from the field in the game, including 6-19 in the first half. The Tigers were 3-14 from 3-point range in the contest.
Emma Bohnenkamper led the way for Warsaw with 19 points to go with six rebounds.
Kaylee Patton had nine points and five rebounds for the Tigers and Brielle Harrison had eight points and nine rebounds.
Warsaw, which was playing its first of four straight road games, falls to 6-3.
Carroll won the junior varsity game 30-18. Kendall Wayne and Madelyn Smith each had five points for Warsaw.
Warsaw opens Northern Lakes Conference play at Plymouth Saturday night. Carroll hosts Fort Wayne Concordia Friday night.
