Triton Boys Basketball: Johnson Pours It On In Win
SOUTH BEND — Triton’s boys basketball team broke into the win column with a 49-35 victory on the road at South Bend Career Academy Tuesday night.
Ross Johnson poured in 30 points with 10 rebounds and three steals to lead the Trojans (1-3), who fell behind 15-3 before closing out the first half 21-2 to take a 24-17 lead into the locker room. Drew Stichter put up eight points with five rebounds to lead the Trojan reserves, who gave their team 12 points off the bench Tuesday. Beau Hepler scored seven with four steals for Triton.
De’Andre Coleman scored 15 points to lead the Trailblazers (0-5).
Triton’s JV also earned the win, 40-25.
Keegan Westafer finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Hunter McIntyre scored nine points for the JV Trojans, who got 22 points in the paint.
Career Academy’s junior varsity was led by Maksim Kaser’s eight points.
Triton opens Hoosier North Athletic Conference play Friday night with Pioneer. Varsity tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
