Delbert ‘Smokey’ Schmucker Jr.
Delbert “Smokey” Schmucker Jr., 89, New Paris, died 4:05 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at Goshen Health Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1928 in Goshen to Delbert and Gertrude (Hull) Schmucker Sr. On April 29, 1948, he married Gladys (Snoke) Schmucker and she passed away on Jan. 9, 1995. He then married Jane (Boyer) Schmucker on March 4, 1996.
Surviving is a wife, Jane, New Paris, step-children, Kenneth Swoveland, Robin Mast, Kimberly Croy, three step-grandchildren, and two grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Earl J. Schmucker, and a step-son-in-law, Roger Croy.
Delbert was the owner and operator of Smokey Bait, Tackle No. 1 Stop, Pierceton Bait and Tackle Shop and of the Smokey Drive Inn, Middlebury restaurant in 1955.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 and a funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. A burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery.
