Upcoming Events At The Syracuse Public Library
Men are Taking Over
The children’s book club has two special guests for the December meeting. The Syracuse Library is happy to welcome Daniel Burnham and Austin Meerzo to continue to read from My Weird School and to introduce a book for individuals in the group to read. They are planning some craft and party activities at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. The children’s book club is for readers in first through fifth grades.
Adult Book Clubs
Adults are invited to a daytime book discussion at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Generally, the group drinks coffee and eats some little snack, but the December meeting is a mutual cookie trade with each person bringing a half dozen cookies. The book is a mystery from England six hundred years ago with a Roger the Chapman Christmas story.
The winter book club, Food from Fiction, always reads a book that is mainly for its entertainment value. The first book is such from the series, White House Chef Mysteries, with the State of the Onion. The book club starts on Jan. 18, but it is always good to get an early start.
Programming Through the Holidays
Easy chair yoga meets at 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays. This is a beginning yoga class that uses a chair to help people with knee or hip problems. Bring a large towel and wear comfortable clothes to try this free exercise program. Walk with the Trails and advanced chair yoga is starting a new winter schedule on Thursday, Dec. 14, by meeting at the Syracuse Community Center to use the equipment or walk the trails and then return to the Syracuse Library for chair yoga at 10:15 a.m. The group will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the equipment room.
The children’s department is suspending all weekly programs through December. Take-away crafts and movies will be offered during the school break.
WorkOne is staffing a mobile location in the Syracuse Library from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays. They offer resume and job application assistance with help on the computer. Job leads are provided and special information from employers. Training information is available through several pathways.
