Wawasee Basketball: Coming In Handy
SYRACUSE – Jacob had a Hand in matters Friday night.
Jacob Hand made two big plays on both ends of the court to help give Wawasee a 38-36 boys basketball win over Manchester Friday night. Hand took a charge with a minute-and-a-half to go in a tie ballgame. Then in the final moments, Hand got his final shot to fall with a second left to give the Warriors a fantastic first win of the season.
Hand finished with eight points on 4-4 shooting and added a pair of assists and rebounds. Trevon Coleman led Wawasee with 13 points and four boards. The Warriors shot 15-29 from the floor (52 percent) and missed just one of its six free throw attempts in a very efficient night.
Brayden Casper paced Manchester (0-3) with 13 points and Mason Hamby added eight points and four rebounds.
The win gives Wawasee head coach Jon Everingham his 100th career victory in his 10th season on the sidelines.
The Wawasee JV won its contest 45-29, statistics were not provided.
Wawasee (1-1) will turn around and play Saturday night at West Noble.
