Indiana Olympian Steele Johnson Won’t Let An Injury Keep Him Out Of The Water
INDIANAPOLIS — Steele Johnson loves to dive.
So much so, that an injury, which keeps him from walking, isn’t enough to keep him out of the pool.
In a video posted on Monday to his Facebook, Steele hops his way up a staircase to get to the 10-meter platform where he can practice his dives.
Although he doesn’t say what happened to his right leg, we do know he’ll be “out” for 9 weeks. Regardless, practice makes perfect, and it doesn’t seem like Johnson has any intention of sitting out, injury or not.
In 2009, Johnson suffered a life-threatening injury during diving practice at IU’s Natatorium. He hit his head on the platform and fell 33 feet into the water.
But he didn’t let that injury stop him either.
In 2016, the Carmel native and his teammate David Boudia took home silver medals for synchronized diving at the Rio Olympics.
