Valley Girls Basketball: Lady Vikings Win Thanksgiving Classic
AKRON — The Lady Vikings won their Thanksgiving Classic tournament with wins over Goshen and Bremen Saturday.
Tippecanoe Valley beat Bremen by a narrow 46-44 margin in the championship.
The Vikings (6-1) led 37-27 heading into the final frame and held on over a 17-point fourth by their guests in the final.
Addy Miller scored 14, Sophie Bussard scored 12, and Emily Peterson put up 10 points in a balanced scoring performance for Valley. Miller and Bussard also passed out four assists each ahead of Olivia Trippiedi’s three, and Bussard and Asia O’Connor finished with five rebounds apiece for the home team as it won its third straight in a much closer affair than the Vikings’ 46-33 win over the Lions on Nov. 2.
Valley beat Goshen 46-39 in the morning game at its home tournament.
Miller scored 15 points to lead the Vikings, followed by nine points apiece from Bussard and Peterson. Bussard also finished with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Peterson recorded two steals in the win.
The Lady RedHawks were paced by Brynn Shoup-Hill with 17 points and seven rebounds and Jill Kissinger with 12 points.
Goshen bounced back with a dominant 43-7 win over Whitko in the consolation game at the tourney. Kissinger scored eight, and Shoup-Hill and Elizabeth Kirkton both added seven points.
