Central Park Holiday Light Display Features New Additions
WARSAW — Warsaw Parks & Recreation Department is once again setting up a holiday light display at Central Park in Warsaw for the 2017 holiday season.
The display will be lit from 4 p.m. until midnight starting Friday, Dec. 1, and ending Sunday, Dec. 31.
This year there will be rope light fixtures as well as a manger scene and Santa with his sleigh and reindeer.
“Thanks to our Christmas display sponsors, Maple Leaf, Sterling Construction and Oakwood Resort, we were able to purchase several LED strands of lights and a new rope light figure of a child with his tongue stuck on a flagpole,” said Warsaw Parks & Recreation Superintendent Larry Plummer.
The display, which features over 200,000 lights, was started in 1997 when N. Bruce Jr. and Ann Howe donated much of their Christmas display to the Warsaw Parks Department.
Concessions will be provided by Young Tiger Football Program, with all proceeds going to the 2018 Christmas display.
The public is invited to come and celebrate the first lighting of the Central Park holiday light display at the Light Up The Night event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.
Children will receive free glow necklaces while supplies last. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be participating in the First Friday Twinkle Parade, with plans to stop at the Center Lake Pavilion, where they will visit with children inside. There will be games and activities at the pavilion, along with face painters and balloon artists.
“We want everyone to come and enjoy the holiday with us,” said Plummer, “It’s a great time for families to come together, grab a bag of popcorn and a hot chocolate and walk through our holiday display. I personally hope everyone enjoys our display and has a happy holiday season.”
