Wawasee Sports Wrap: Nov. 14
Girls Basketball
Wawasee earned its second win in a row with a 53-43 triumph over Lakeland Tuesday night.
Aubrey Kuhn hung 14 on the Lakers, helped by 10 points from Kabrea Rostochak and Caitlin Wortinger with eight points. Rostochak and Wortinger combined to pull down 13 boards on the night.
A 17-5 start for Wawasee made the difference as both teams were about even the remainder of the way. Lakeland ended in a flourish, scoring 19 points in the fourth, aided by nine of Bailey Hartsough’s game-high 21 points.
Wawasee (3-2) went 9-12 from the free throw stripe in the fourth quarter and were 11-16 overall from the line.
Lakeland’s JV got the better of the undercard with a 32-16 win. Morgan Adkins pitched in five points for the Wawasee cause.
The Lady Warriors will entertain Triton Saturday night.
Middle School Basketball
The sixth, seventh and eighth grade Wawasee boys basketball teams played Tuesday.
The sixth grade ‘A’ team beat West Noble 35-20. Ty Brooks led the Warriors with 11 points while Darius Lewis was right behind with nine points. The ‘B’ team beat West Noble 24-10. Jayden Rodes paced the victors with eight points. The seventh grade lost 38-14. Brendan Freeman led Wawasee with seven points. The eighth grade Wawasee team edged Milford 37-36. Keaton Dukes all scorers with 20 points.
