Russell C. Hoffert — UPDATED
Russell C. Hoffert, 97, Fort Wayne, passed away at 5:11 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, in Parkview-Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born on June 11, 1920 in Larwill to George and Elizabeth (Leiter) Hoffert.
He was formerly a resident of Warsaw. On April 26, 1943, he was united in marriage to Marjorie J. (Eaton) Hoffert in Auburn. Marjorie preceded Russell in death on July 14, 2008 and they were married for 65 years. During his life, Russell served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. In the 1950’s he was the manager of Shine Shoe Store in Warsaw. In the early 1960’s he sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha. Russell owned Warsaw Interior Decorating in the 1970’s and was also the owner and operator of Fort Wayne Decorating in the 1980’s. Throughout his life he attended numerous churches including; First Baptist Church in Warsaw and Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by sons: Greg (spouse Carol) Hoffert of Warsaw, and Tim Hoffert of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Stephen (spouse Rachel) of Ringgold, Ga.; David (spouse Rachael) Hoffert of Warsaw, and Lauryn Hoffert of Fort Wayne; six great grandchildren also survive.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Hoffert and a brother, Archie Hoffert.
A private family gathering will take place at Fellowship Baptist Church, Warsaw. Interment will be private and held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels are entrusted with all arrangements.
Memorial contributions in honor of Russell may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
