MENTONE — Representatives from Fulton County REMC gave an electrical safety presentation to fourth grade students at Mentone Elementary School Monday, Nov. 13.
Greg Bitterling and T.J. Garner taught the students about power lines, conductors, circuits, transformers, currents and different types of outlets. They also learned about the importance of avoiding power lines while on a ladder or when holding onto kites or balloons.
The main lesson during the presentation is that you never know if a downed power line is “live.”
“You don’t know – so you have to assume it is,” was the message emphasized to students.
